Chandigarh hotels, multiplexes to install CCTV cameras
Chandigarh, July 31 The Chandigarh administration has asked the owners of all hotels, restaurants, cinemas and multiplexes to install CCTV cameras in their premises for enhancing security.
“In the wake of recent terror attacks in the country and secret inputs received from intelligence agencies, the district magistrate has issued these orders. It was observed that the security of persons visiting these hotels or multiplexes requires strict vigilance,” said a spokesperson of the administration here Friday.
“The orders will come into force with effect from zero hour on July 31. Owners of these properties are directed to install CCTV at entry, exits, reception and parking areas. They have to keep a record for 30 days.”
Chandigarh hotels and restaurants have welcomed this initiative.
Manmohan Singh, president of Chandigarh Hotels and Restaurants Association, told IANS: “CCTV cameras are of utmost importance for the safety of people. We have no problem in installing these equipments and we have already circulated this message among all the 35 member hotels of our association.”
